Vascular Surgery receives very little funding for research. Mr Braithwaite and his colleagues at Queen's Medical Centre are actively involved in clinical research to improve the care of patients. Mr Braithwaite's particular interest is in the treatment of Deep Venous Disease. He is currently trying to raise money to purchase a new ultrasound machine that can be used in the operating theatre as well as in clinics. The machine costs £22,000.
