RESULTS OF OPERATIONS Important Information - please read before looking at results Within the next 5 years, every consultant surgeon will have to publish their results. Information from NHS trusts is often inaccurate because the methods for collecting information are old and were not designed to produce the information the public may wish to know. The following information has been collected by the Surgeon Concerned and is therefore more accurate. Although an individual surgeon does an operation, the results of that operation can be affected by the nursing care the patient receives and the advice and treatment offered by other doctors and employees of the trust. The outcomes of any operation reflect the work of a team and not just the surgeon alone. Some patients are more ill than others and their underlying condition can affect the success of their operation. For some of the operations on this website, the expected results from other surgeons in the country have been displayed. If the results of the surgeon concerned fall within the range of others then it can be assumed the results are acceptable. If other surgeon's do not publish results, ask yourself 'Why don't they?'
