Dear Mr Braithwaite,
I was interested to have the opportunity of reading your 'Patient
Information' and the advice with regard to varicose veins.I believe that the
notes are comprehensive and supportive and helpful to the patient.
I have one suggestion that I hope you may consider worthwhile.DVT is a
topical subject.It was referred to more than once by the nursing staff at
Nuffield and as you may recall I felt the need to return to the Hospital
some five days after my operation for reassurance.Do you think it possible
to make reference to the inevitable but slight risk with any such
operation,without, I accept ,creating unnecessary alarm, by emphasising
where in the legs there will be natural but harmless soreness resulting from
the operation?
Alternatively,I understand that as DVT as a side effect is not peculiar to
this operation, you may prefer to leave reference to the nursing staff.
